ON THE ROCKSS
NİL DENİZ HELMSMAN
Nil Deniz began sailing in 1990 at Istanbul Sailing Club. After a break of nearly six years, she returned to racing alongside her father, Engin Deniz, from whom she learned the fundamentals of sailing. She later competed regularly in the IRC class with various teams, taking on trimming and bow positions. She also participated in several international regattas with the ITU Sailing and Exit teams.
The boats she has raced include First 34.7, First 35, RS21, SB20, Farr 40, and various prototype yachts.
A graduate of Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture and Pratt Institute’s Industrial Design program, Nil co-founded Studio Moxx in 2022, where she develops primarily spatial and product design projects for companies.
Since 2024, she has been racing as a helmsman aboard the J/70 On the Rocks. She also continues to compete actively in the IRC class.
