CHEESE SAILING
GÜNEY KAPTAN SKIPPER
Güney Kaptan began sailing in 1998 at Bodrum Era Sailing Club. At the age of 14, he won his first Turkish Championship in the Optimist class and achieved Turkey’s best-ever result in the class at that time by finishing 15th at the World Championship.
In the following years, he competed successfully in the Laser 4.7, Laser Radial and Laser Standard classes, winning numerous races. In 2003, he was awarded the “Sailor of the Year” by Sabah Sports Awards.
Between 2000 and 2008, he represented Turkey in many international competitions as a member of the national team and claimed first place at the 2006 Laser Radial U17 European Youth Championship.
He joined the Cheese Sailing Team in 2017. Alongside his professional career in architecture, he continues to serve as skipper in competitive sailing teams.
