The J/70 Turkey Tour 2023 season concluded with the 5th Leg races
15 May 2023The opening leg of the trophy series was held in Göcek between 10–12 March, hosted by Göcek Yacht Club and Skopea Marina. With 18 yachts registered, the 1st Leg was completed with a total of six races.
The races organized by the J/70 Turkey Class Association saw their highest participation to date at this opening leg of the season. Within the steadily growing fleet, four of the 18 yachts competed in the Corinthian division.
The increasing presence of young sailors within the fleet is especially encouraging.

The races, scheduled to start at 12:00, got underway on the first day with an approximate two-hour delay, as the wind built up to around 10 knots. The opening day concluded with three races. On the second day, sailors woke up to overcast conditions, but favorable winds ranging between 13 and 17 knots allowed for three very enjoyable races to be completed. As the fleet continued to grow, the level of competition reached new heights. Tenzor, Bogatyrs, Eker Kaymak, and Ameera Jet were among the teams consistently fighting at the top of the leaderboard.
Unfortunately, weather conditions did not permit racing on the final day. A lack of wind combined with the onset of rain brought the opening leg of the series to a close after a total of six races.
Based on the results after a total of six races:
In the Corinthian division:
- HSSK Quick Sigorta Nimbus
- Orient Express Jr.
- Çokokaymak
Overall standings:

These teams earned their trophies at the opening leg of the series.
