Turkish Teams Compete at the J/70 European Championship in Barcelona

The 2026 J/70 European Championship brought together some of the strongest J/70 teams in the world in Barcelona, Spain. Competing in a fleet of 82 boats, the Turkish teams proudly represented their country against Europe’s top sailors and gained valuable experience on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Throughout the championship, professional and amateur crews from across Europe battled through ten races in the challenging conditions of the Mediterranean Sea. With its highly competitive fleet and strong international participation, the event once again demonstrated why the J/70 class is regarded as one of the most prestigious one-design sailing classes in the world.

The Turkish teams also delivered strong performances throughout the championship while competing against one of the most competitive fleets in international J/70 sailing. Denizcik, led by skipper Gulboy Guryel, finished the championship in 8th place overall. Nautique Yachting, skippered by Onur Erardağ, secured 26th place overall and also claimed 3rd place in the ONE-PRO category. Happy Hour JR, led by Erman Ayvaz, finished 43rd overall, while Eker, skippered by Ahmet Eker, completed the championship in 56th place overall.

Competing in Barcelona against some of the strongest teams from across Europe, all Turkish crews proudly represented their country and demonstrated the continued growth of the Turkish J/70 class on the international stage.

Beyond the results themselves, the championship represented an important milestone for the Turkish J/70 class, further strengthening its visibility and presence within the European sailing community. Every athlete, crew member, and supporter who contributed to carrying the Turkish flag in Barcelona played a valuable role in promoting Turkish sailing internationally.
